Now it's time for Christmas leftovers...

Hope that you all enjoyed a great Christmas weekend. I wanted to share just a few more of the cards I have made (these cards are directly from the Stampin' Up catalog). But I know when I do my Copy the Catalog stamp camp in June, we won't want to make Christmas cards so I'll share them with you now.

The first one is from page 32 of this year's catalog and uses the Big on Christmas stamp set. This card is actually 8X4 and the card base is Real Red Textured cardstock. The other colors are Old Olive for the Scallop Trim layer and Confetti White for the Noel layer since the Confetti and Naturals cardstock are easy to Watercolor (and a better choice than either Very Vanilla or Whisper White because those cardstocks are Ultrasmooth). Of course our watercolor paper would work as well. I stamped the Noel in Black Stazon and watercolored with Real Red, Old Olive and Bashful Blue and accented it with one of the Bold Brights buttons tied with Crochet Thread.

The second card I'm sharing is from page 42 of this year's catalog and uses the Serene Snowflakes and Many Merry Messages stamp sets. The colors for this card are Night of Navy, More Mustard, Old Olive & Real Red - the snowflakes are stamped on White Naturals cardstock in those colors.. The greeting is stamped on White Naturals and trimmed and then to get the "pennant shape" I used the Photo corners punch. The accented snowflakes are More Mustard stamped in Real Red and cut out and attached with mini brads. Old Olive Satin Ribbon tied with Linen Thread completes this card.

Stocking Stuffer

Hi Stampers,

Thought I'd add another post before Christmas to show you a cool gift card holder. I got this idea from Stampin' Connection (our demo only website) and I've seen it on a bunch of other blogs as well. I can't find my copy of the pattern right now so I can't remember where I got the pattern.

This is my version, which we did at my Holiday Stamp Camp. It uses a technique called "Embedded Embossing" where you cut out the pattern for the stocking in vanilla (including the top part) and then the toe and another stocking in Cherry Cobbler. Then I attached the toe to the Cherry Cobbler stocking before I ran the whole thing through the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder for the Big Shot and then it all gets embossed at once. Then I attached the stocking part to the back and decorated the front where it folds over the top using the Scallop Ribbon punch, a Cherry Cobbler button and the "A Merry Christmas" stamp from Bells & Boughs. I also used another technique to frame the greeting using the new Decorative Label punch. To frame a punch with the same size punch you punch out two of the punches (here in Cherry Cobbler) and cut one in half widthwise and one in half the other way and piece it behind the greeting piece to frame it.

Here's a picture of the stocking opened as a gift card holder. I used a piece of DSP from Deck the Halls to line the inside.

Frames for All Seasons

Although I haven't been posting all that much due to all the Christmas projects and things to do, today I want to share the project I made for my annual Stampin' Up Demonstrator Holiday Party/Gift Exchange last week.

Last year, I purchased these frames from a Big Box store and they sat in my stamp room until it was time for me to come up with a project for this gift exchange. I decided to make a series of frame for all 4 seasons. The first one is for Christmas and I used the "Jingle All the Way" Decor Element - I have used this particular Decor Element on all kind of project over the last few years. I put a piece of Candy Cane DSP behind the Element and then used mini glue dots to attach Jingle Bells to the frame - simple and cute!

For spring, I used the Island Floral Big Shot die for the flower in Marina Mist and the Elegant Soiree DSP. I did use Soft Suede ink and a sponge dauber all around the flower and a piece of Soft Suede circle punched for the flower center.

Summer's frame is again a flower from the Big Shot - the Daisies die twice in So Saffron to make a sunflower. I used the Polka Dot Embossing Flower on a piece of Chocolate Chip for the center of the sunflower and a piece of DSP from the Neutrals Stack for the background.

My final frame is for fall and features the leaves that I have used for several projects embossed with the Finial Press embossing folder and the Leaves Big Shot die. Then I sprayed them with Gold Smooch Spray and used DSP from Woodland Walk and the saying from Day of Gratitude. The colors are More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler & Cajun Craze. The sentiment is punched out with the Wide Oval punch.

All Christmas, all the time...

I hope that you are shopping til you drop or maybe like me you're all done with your shopping for this year (YEA!). Anyway, with the weather being really cold here in Chicago it's nice to be inside blog surfing and finally posting something new to my blog.

Today's project is an ornament that I made for a craft show I participated in last month. I saw the idea on someone's blog, went to a local craft store to buy the ornaments and here is one of the ones I made. I painted the ornament with light blue craft paint. After it dried, I used the Embossing Buddy on the ornament because I heat embossed Dasher with White Embossing Powder after stamping it in Versamark ink. After embossing, I used some kind of paste to make the snow - it's kind of like spackle and you use a spatula to put it on the ornament. After that was dry I sprayed the ornament with a sealer and while it was wet I added some Dazzling Diamonds for bling. A blue ribbon ornament hanger completes the ornament. This one is hanging on our tree this year. I do like making different types of ornaments so this won't be the last one I share this Christmas, especially because I cleaned the office/stamp room today so I can find everything I need to make some other types of ornaments.

I'm off to my annual party with my fellow demonstrators - I'll share the gift I made for this party next time - can't wait to see what everyone came up with this year!

Looking for easy gift packaging?

Hope that you are getting all your shopping done - I'm getting there - busy week but it's that time of year.

Today I thought I'd share one of the projects we did at my Holiday Stamp Camp - it's a quick and easy gift package. I used the Mini Lunch Sacks from the Holiday Mini Catalog - they come pre-scalloped at the top. For this bag, I took an idea from Stampin' Connection (the Demo only website we have) which I think is originally from a talented demonstrator named Sharon and made my version of this snowman using 3 sizes of circles to make the snowman (2.5" from the Circles die, and the 1.75" and 1.25" inch circle punches) and then I sponged the edges with Marina Mist. The arms are two "branches" off the snowflake punch. I punches the eyes out and then added black cardstock behind them. The nose I cut from Pumpkin Pie cardstock and I drew on the mouth with a Basic Black marker.

I added the snowflakes from the Northern Frost Decorative Strip die for the Big Shot in Marina Mist and some of the fun Clear Tinsel which is also in the holiday mini. The Merry Christmas is from Season of Joy and I tore the cardstock for the snow and then sponged it from Marina Mist and then used some Dazzling Diamonds for bling.

I wanted to let you know that Shelli Gardner, Stampin' Up's owner and President will be on the Today show on Monday as part of their Toy Drive (she's supposed to be on during the 9-11 time frame). This is Shelli's second year on the show - hopefully she'll be able to show some of our great products while she's there.

Also, don't forget that December 15 is the last day for orders to be here for Christmas so get those wish lists to me and tell your family asap! Get what you want this Christmas!

Feeling like Christmas!

Hi Stampers,

Well, our tree is up, the house is decorated and tonight we're expecting the first snowstorm of the season so it's feeling like Christmas! Not to mention that it's been cold all week and we had to break out the winter coats and gloves.

Tonight I'm sharing one of the projects from my Holiday Stamp Camp. This ornament was really easy to make - I cut two chipboard circles with the Clear Circle die and one of Night of Navy cardstock. Then I stamped the images from Come to Bethlehem (from the big catalog) in Versamark and heat embossed it in Silver. I added one of the Rhinestones to the star. To put the ornament together I attached the navy piece to one of the chipboard circles (Stampin' Up's glue sticks work great for this) and then used Sticky Strip on the back of that piece to adhere the Silver Waffle Paper - this is a really cool product in the current Holiday mini catalog - you can gather it to get the look I have here. After I attached the front and back together, I used the Crop-a-dile to punch a hole in the whole ornament and added the ribbon hanger, which I got from a housewares store - I have them in lots of colors because I use them on my tree for all my ornaments - I like them much better than ornament hooks.

Anyway, hope you aren't snowed in where you are, but having lived in Chicagoland my whole life I'm used to snow in the winter. Also, as a lifelong Cub fan, today we are all saddened by the death of Ron Santo - he was one of my son Shane's favorite Cubs and it is sad that he like so many others didn't get to see the Cubs in the World Series - we'll miss hearing him on the radio - even if you couldn't always follow the game when he was talking, he always made us laugh!

A Thanksgiving Leftover and then it's on to Christmas...

Hi Stampers,

I hope that everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend filled with food, family and friends - I know that our family did. It was great to have my oldest son home from college for the weekend and he'll be home again in just a few weeks for Christmas break so that's good too!

Today I thought I'd share one of the final projects I made for Thanksgiving with the Day of Gratitude set - although I have some Christmas projects I have made with it as well. This project uses the Fancy Favor box die for the Big Shot - it cuts out and scores this very versatile treat box. I used the Autumn Spice DSP for this project - it is almost as thick as cardstock so you can make the box right from the DSP it's very sturdy. I also used the DSP to make the band around the box as well. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive on Very Vanilla cardstock, cut out and attached to the box with Dimensionals. The Happy Thanksgiving is Stamped on Very Vanilla in Cajun Craze, punched out with the Word Window punch and attached to a piece of Cajun Craze punched with the Modern Label punch.

Since tomorrow is December 1, it will be time to start creating and posting Christmas Projects. We're going to put our tree up tonight and decorate the inside of the house and we actually had a little snow tonight so it's beginning to feel like Christmas around our house.

Last week I sat down with this stamp set to see what I could create for Thanksgiving and so today I'd like to share a few more of the cards I made with this set.

For this birthday card, I used the flower image from Day of Gratitude - I colored it with markers to make the flowers More Mustard and Cajun Craze and the leaves Old Olive, which are two of the colors in the Autumn Spice DSP, which I used for the top of this card. After I stamped the flowers, I punched them out with a circle punch and then used some more of the DSP to layer the flowers. I also used a strip of More Mustard under the flowers. The card is Cajun Craze and the greeting is from All Holidays stamped in Early Espresso.
The second card also uses more of the Autumn Spice DSP - this time I used some of the images from the DSP punched out and attached to Early Espresso. I accented the the circle pieces with brads from the Neutrals and Brights Collections and attached the circles to another piece of DSP - the Autumn Spice DSP is actually more like cardstock as well as being textured - great to use for cards. The card itself is More Mustard and I used one of the leaves from Day of Gratitude in More Mustard. I accented the Old Olive DSP with a piece of Cajun Craze punched with the Dotted Border Scallop Ribbon punch. The greeting is also from Day of Gratitude stamped in Early Espresso and punched with the oval punches.

Since next week is Thanksgiving, I thought I'd share some projects with you that I made with the Day of Gratitude stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. This great set is of course for more than Thanksgiving, but it was kind of designed for that holiday, so I decided to see how many cards I could make with it.

For this first card, I used Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Naturals White for the colors. I used Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Early Espresso markers to color in the "medallion" stamp with Old Olive, then I stamped and cut out the medallion. To do the background piece for the medallion, I took a piece of Cajun Craze and used the Top Note die in the Big Shot (not my idea I saw this technique on several different blogs). Though it did require some math (or geometry anyway) you turn and cut the piece in the top note die until it looks like this - pretty cool and a nice frame for this piece.

Then I used Old Olive ink on the Old Olive cardstock for the background and greeting and added a strip of Autumn Spice DSP, which coordinates perfectly with the Day of Gratitude stamp set. I finished it off with a Glitter Brad from the Brights, also from the holiday mini.

I hope that we all remember what we have to be grateful for as we approach Thanksgiving! I will share a few more projects in the next few days with this stamp set.

Time for Holiday Stamping...

Hi Stampers,

Well the weather finally feels like the holidays are going to be here soon and this past Saturday at my Holiday Stamp Camp, we made some great projects to get us in the holiday spirit - although the weather was warm, I remembered the Christmas music this time (helped by a Chicago radio station that is already playing Christmas music non-stop).

This first project is actually a remake of a card I first shared with you in July when I discovered that one of the leaves on the Island Floral die would make a great Christmas light. This time I made the card using the Silver Tinsel from the Holiday Mini Catlalog which is great and very easy to use. The colors are still Garden Green, Real Red & Crumb Cake and I made the tops of the lights in Brushed Silver Cardstock. I made the lights by attaching a narrow strip of the Brushed Silver across the top of the red and green cardstock before putting them on the die to cut them out on the Big Shot since the die will cut through 2 layers at once. I stamped the lights with one of the stamps from Serene Snowflakes in Whisper White Craft Ink. The Merry Christmas is stamped in Garden Green and is from a set called Christmas Greetings. I sponged Real Red around the greeting before attaching is to the Real Red piece. The Crumb Cake piece was wheeled with the Christmas Chatter Wheel in Crumb Cake.

I have a project to share with you today as well - this is another of the cards that we made at my Mostly Manly Stamp Camp and it was inspired by one I saw on Stampin' Connection - one of the great resources that are only for Stampin' Up demonstrators! This card uses a new set in this year's catalog called "Uncharted Territory". For this card I stamped the lighthouse in Basic Black Craft ink on Naturals White cardstock and heat embossed it. Then I stamped the lighthouse again on a post it note and trimmed it to create a mask so I could sponge the sky in Marina Mist ink. I watercolored the lighthouse and beach with Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler using Blender Pens. The lighthouse piece is attached to a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock which was scored at the top and folded over the watercolored piece and accented with a piece of hemp twine. The Crumb Cake piece was run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder and attached to the Marina Mist base card.

Extreme Birthday!

Hi Stampers,

Sorry that it's been a while since I posted, but life has been busy - after my last stamp camp I was getting ready for the craft fair I participated in last weekend and then this weekend is my Holiday Stamp Camp so its busy in my stamp room!

Today's card is another of the cards from my Masculine Stamp Camp, where we made great cards for all ages of boys and men. This square card uses several different stamp sets and the colors are Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Crumb Cake and Whisper White. The guitar image is from Extreme Guitar and the Diamonds and Happy Birthday are from Grunge Rock, a new set in the catalog. I made the Pennant Happy Birthday by punching the end of each piece with the Photo Corner punch. This card got the approval of my 16 year old son!

Hope that you are enjoying yet more beautiful fall weather this week - at least we are in Chicagoland. After freezing at a football game last Friday night, it was great to not need a coat today!

From last week's Stamp Camp...Mostly Manly

I can't believe it's already November 1st - where has this year gone? Today I thought I'd share a card with you that we made at my Mostly Manly Stamp Camp last Friday night. We had a great time creating cards for men (and boys) of all ages at this camp.

This first card I'll share with you is one that I CASEd from a Shoebox I went to a few years back. It uses one of my favorite sets "Lovely as a Tree" - did you know this is now the oldest set in the catalog? It is such a versatile set. In this case, the trees are stamped in Soft Suede onto Crumb Cake cardstock and then the edges are stamped in Soft Suede as well. The Crumb Cake pieces is then layered onto Soft Suede and a torn piece of Always Archichoke and accented with two brads from the Neutrals Collection. The trees are accented with the Versamarker. The card base is one of my favorite fall colors - Cajun Craze and the Happy Birthday is from the All Holidays stamp set.

I will be sharing some of the other cards we made at this camp - it was really fun to make cards for men of all ages!

One more Halloween Card...

Hi Stampers,

I thought I would share with you another Halloween card I came up for this year.

Once again I used the Spider Web embossing folder - love it! and then the Happy Halloween image is from the Dark & Dreary set in the mini catalog. The image is stamped on Whisper White with Basic Black and then again stamped on Wild Wasabi which is then punched out and popped off the white image with a Dimensional. The Wild Wasabi piece behind it is stamped with the Spider Web image from the Wicked Cool set. I used a piece from the Nite Owl DSP for the Black & White strip and accented that with two white brads from the Neutrals collection of brads.

A Wicked Cool Halloween Card

Hi Stampers,

I hope that everyone is enjoying the fantastic fall weather we've been having here in Chicago - can't remember another fall when the weather has been this great although we could use a little rain.

Today's share is another one of the cards that we made at my All About Fall stamp camp - this one features the Wicked Cool stamp set, the new Bat punch and the Spider Web embossing folder. The Spider Web is embossed with the Big Shot on Tangerine Tango and then I used Basic Black to accent the spider web. Of course I used Basic Black for the bats. The images from Wicked Cool are stamped on Whisper White. I used Rich Razzleberry, Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black and Tangerine Tango markers to color in the stamps. One of the things that I love about our clear stamps is that you can put several images on one block to stamp them, which I did here. Then I used the new Large Scallop Circle punch to punch out the image and attached it to a piece of the Nite Owl DSP which I cut out with one of the circle dies on the Big Shot.

Fall Continued...

Hi Stampers,

Well the weather here in Chicagoland has felt more like June than October, I want to share another fall project with you today.

This was another of the projects from my "All About Fall" stamp camp in September and it was inspired by something I saw on Stampin' Connection, Stampin' Up's Demo Only site for ideas. The colors are Concord Crush, Old Olive, More Mustard and Cajun Crush. First I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and used sponges to put color randomly all over the top of the Vanilla. Then I took a stamp from Autumn Splendor and sprayed it with Stampin' Mist and stamped it on the cardstock. It almost gives a faded bleachy effect because it pulls the color off. I used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder for the bottom of the card with Old Olive Cardstock. The greeting is from Perfect Punches and is punched out with the Wide Oval punch and attached to the Concord Crush strip with Dimensionals.

Happy Fall - hope we can turn the A/C off for good soon!

Never too early for the Holidays!

Well, I know that it's not even Halloween yet, but Christmas is only 12 weeks away so I thought that I'd share a Christmas Card with you today that I recently made for a swap I was in with some of the other demonstrators in my group for the Holiday Mini Catalog.

I made this card with the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder for the Big Shot on our Brushed Silver Cardstock. Easy to do but I looks great! I accented the snowflakes with some of our Rhinestones. The card itself is Cherry Cobbler - my new favorite color for Christmas. The greeting is from Snow Swirled and is punched out with the Scallop Oval punch and then attached to a piece of Cherry Cobbler punched with the Wide Oval punch and then I added some of the new Cherry Cobbler seam binding as an accent. A quick and easy card but I love the way the colors look. On the left you can see that it could also be a portrait style card as well.

Happy Anniversary!

Hi Stampers,

Today's card is one that I made for my parents 52nd anniversary, which is today. I used one of my favorite new embossing folders, Elegant Lines to make them an anniversary card.

The colors are Certainly Celery and Concord Crush. This card is really simple to make - that's what I love about Big Shot Embossing folders. I highlighted the card with some Pearls from our new Pearl Assortment and then used some Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon to accent the greeting, which is from my favorite set Teeny Tiny Wishes on Very Vanilla - stamped in Concord Crush and accented with more pearls and punched with the Modern Label punch.

Well, since it's the beginning of a new month, I thought I'd unveil a new look for my blog! Thanks to Michelle at Laycock Designs, I changed my look.

I'd also like to share a card with you today. Since fall is here (and for once the weather agrees with the calendar), I'm sharing one of the cards we made at last weekend's "All About Fall" stamp camp. I used the Big Shot Square Lattice Embossing folder to add some texture to Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and More Mustard cardstock. Then I used the Leaves #2 Big Shot Die for the leaves and sprayed them with Vanilla Smooch Spray to give them some shine. I cut a piece of Autumn Spice DSP with the Top Note Big Shot Die and then attached everything to a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock. The narrow cardstock ribbon is Early Espresso and is wrapped with Linen Thread on the left side. The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Early Espresso and punched with the Word Window and the background piece is Early Espresso punched with the Modern Label punch - I love those 2 punches together.

Since my All About Fall Camp is tomorrow...

Hi Stampers,

It seems like this weekend Fall has arrived not just on the calendar but also with the weather. Last night was perfect weather for York's homecoming victory over DG North and it seems like fall is really here.

Today's share is one that I did for a display board - it is a CASE directly from this year's Catalog (page 28). The colors in the card are Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait. The front is wheeled with the Bright Blessings Jumbo Wheel in Riding Hood Red. I used the Falling Leaves stamp set for the Acorn & Greeting stamped in Early Espresso and Pear Pizzazz. The greeting is attached with Hemp Twine and staples. The thin strips of accent cardstock were really easy to cut with the SU Tabletop Paper Cutter.

Love that Owl Punch!

Sorry I haven't posted recently - the first few weeks of back to school have been really busy at my house even though I only have one son at home going to high school. My volunteer activities at school and church and life in general have kept us busy not to mention those always pesky computer problems that seem to keep cropping up.

Anyway, the card I have to share with you today is one I made for a swap in August and even though I'm not a big Owl or bird fan, I just love this new Owl Punch. You can have so many different looks for the owl just by the colors you use. For this card, I used the Woodgrain background stamp in Early Espresso on Crumb Cake (this is my absolute favorite color now). Behind the owl is a Real Red Large Scallop Circle punch (another great new punch) and the leaf is Old Olive from the XL Bird Punch. The owl is punched in Early Espresso with Crumb Cake for one layer of the eyes and then a layer of Early Espresso. The front of the owl is a piece of Playdate DSP. I used Googly Eyes for the eyes instead of the teeny punches that you could use from the punch. The Happy Birthday stamp is from Family Phrases and is punched with the Word Window Punch and the piece behind the greeting is punched with the Modern Label punch. I love all of our punches and how much they add to cards!
