A Thanksgiving Leftover and then it's on to Christmas...

I hope that everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend filled with food, family and friends - I know that our family did. It was great to have my oldest son home from college for the weekend and he'll be home again in just a few weeks for Christmas break so that's good too!

Today I thought I'd share one of the final projects I made for Thanksgiving with the Day of Gratitude set - although I have some Christmas projects I have made with it as well. This project uses the Fancy Favor box die for the Big Shot - it cuts out and scores this very versatile treat box. I used the Autumn Spice DSP for this project - it is almost as thick as cardstock so you can make the box right from the DSP it's very sturdy. I also used the DSP to make the band around the box as well. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive on Very Vanilla cardstock, cut out and attached to the box with Dimensionals. The Happy Thanksgiving is Stamped on Very Vanilla in Cajun Craze, punched out with the Word Window punch and attached to a piece of Cajun Craze punched with the Modern Label punch.

Since tomorrow is December 1, it will be time to start creating and posting Christmas Projects. We're going to put our tree up tonight and decorate the inside of the house and we actually had a little snow tonight so it's beginning to feel like Christmas around our house.

Since next week is Thanksgiving, I thought I'd share some projects with you that I made with the Day of Gratitude stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. This great set is of course for more than Thanksgiving, but it was kind of designed for that holiday, so I decided to see how many cards I could make with it.

For this first card, I used Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Naturals White for the colors. I used Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Early Espresso markers to color in the "medallion" stamp with Old Olive, then I stamped and cut out the medallion. To do the background piece for the medallion, I took a piece of Cajun Craze and used the Top Note die in the Big Shot (not my idea I saw this technique on several different blogs). Though it did require some math (or geometry anyway) you turn and cut the piece in the top note die until it looks like this - pretty cool and a nice frame for this piece.

Then I used Old Olive ink on the Old Olive cardstock for the background and greeting and added a strip of Autumn Spice DSP, which coordinates perfectly with the Day of Gratitude stamp set. I finished it off with a Glitter Brad from the Brights, also from the holiday mini.

I hope that we all remember what we have to be grateful for as we approach Thanksgiving! I will share a few more projects in the next few days with this stamp set.

Hope you like the new look of my blog!

Well, since it's the beginning of a new month, I thought I'd unveil a new look for my blog! Thanks to Michelle at Laycock Designs, I changed my look.

I'd also like to share a card with you today. Since fall is here (and for once the weather agrees with the calendar), I'm sharing one of the cards we made at last weekend's "All About Fall" stamp camp. I used the Big Shot Square Lattice Embossing folder to add some texture to Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and More Mustard cardstock. Then I used the Leaves #2 Big Shot Die for the leaves and sprayed them with Vanilla Smooch Spray to give them some shine. I cut a piece of Autumn Spice DSP with the Top Note Big Shot Die and then attached everything to a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock. The narrow cardstock ribbon is Early Espresso and is wrapped with Linen Thread on the left side. The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Early Espresso and punched with the Word Window and the background piece is Early Espresso punched with the Modern Label punch - I love those 2 punches together.

Time for the Holiday Mini...

Well, last time we said goodbye to the Summer Mini and today we'll say hello to one of my favorite mini-catalogs, this year's Holiday Mini Catalog. This mini is full of all sorts of great fall & holiday sets, from Halloween to Valentine's Day.


The sample I'm sharing with you today is one of those new stamp sets - Day of Gratitude. To me this stamp set can either look like fall or Christmas. For this card, I ran a piece of Cherry Cobbler through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and then "smooched" the paper with the Gold Smooch Spray. I stamped the large image from Day of Gratitude with Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla Cardstock and accented the center with a 5/8" neutrals brad in Very Vanilla. The sentiment is also from the same stamp set stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Crumb Cake cardstock, which is quickly becoming my favorite neutral color. A piece of Early Espresso ribbon and the background piece of Early Escpresso cardstock complete this card.

Although it doesn't seem like it with the weather here, fall is around the corner so enjoy this taste of the new mini - I will be sharing many more samples in the near future.

Hi there,

Another calendar insert to share with you today for Thanksgiving. This one was pretty easy to do - I used Soft Suede (my new favorite neutral color), More Mustard and Elegant Eggplant in cardstock and ribbon. The DSP is Autumn Traditions and the "Grateful" is from Falling Leaves.

Hope everyone enjoyed yet another beautiful day - seemed more like spring than November, but I'm sure real Chicago weather is right around the corner!

I know this next week will be busy for me as I look forward to hosting Thanksgiving, but I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm grateful for my family and friends!!
