As most of you know, the Big Shot is definitely one of my favorite things to use in creating cards. Today I'm sharing a card that I created for my Fall Fun stamp camp and shared with a group last night at a fun workshop as well. I uses the A La Carte Stamp "Leaves of a Tree" from the Holiday Mini catalog. If you haven't checked out the single stamps in the regular catalog and the mini you are missing out! For this card, I stamped the Leaves of a Tree in White craft ink on Whisper White cardstock (that I cut out with the Scallop Circles Big Shot die) and heat embossed it with White Embossing powder. Then I used More Mustard ink and a sponge dauber to rub color onto the whole scallop circle. The ink resists wherever the embossing is (this technique is called Emboss Resist). I attached the image to a 3.75" Pool Party circle that I die cut and then ran through the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder using Stampin' Dimensionals. The card base is Soft Suede and I stamped one of the leaves from Gently Falling in Soft Suede. The DSP on the bottom is Spice Cake and I scored 1/2" from the top and folded it over to get the contrasting Pool Party edge across the top. The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Soft Suede on Vanilla cardstock and sponged with More Mustard.

I have a project to share with you today as well - this is another of the cards that we made at my Mostly Manly Stamp Camp and it was inspired by one I saw on Stampin' Connection - one of the great resources that are only for Stampin' Up demonstrators! This card uses a new set in this year's catalog called "Uncharted Territory". For this card I stamped the lighthouse in Basic Black Craft ink on Naturals White cardstock and heat embossed it. Then I stamped the lighthouse again on a post it note and trimmed it to create a mask so I could sponge the sky in Marina Mist ink. I watercolored the lighthouse and beach with Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler using Blender Pens. The lighthouse piece is attached to a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock which was scored at the top and folded over the watercolored piece and accented with a piece of hemp twine. The Crumb Cake piece was run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder and attached to the Marina Mist base card.

What a great weekend of friends & stamping!

Well I enjoyed a wonderful weekend in Milwaukee stamping both Friday night and all day Saturday - another wonderful perk of being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator. I even won a Stamp Set in one of the Door Prize giveaways - actually we were a very lucky table - 4 people out of the 6 at our table won door prizes. Pretty good when there were 500 demonstrators there! I'll be creating something using that set in the near future as well as sharing the projects we stamped too - need to spend some time scanning those into my computer. We had a really great time...friends, stamping, food, outlet mall...what could be better? Wouldn't you love to join my group of demonstrators? I thought I'd share a sample I did a while back with one of the sets that's on special this month - 5th Avenue Floral. This card uses a cool technique called "Reinker Spread". The flower is stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink and heat embossed on Shimmery White cardstock. You use an Aquapainter to get the flower very wet and then use it to spread several colors of reinkers which then spread across the flower because of the water. You do need to let the flower dry which I like to do by leaning it upright so the extra reinker drips to the bottom - I like the effect better.

This card uses Pretty in Pink and Rose Red cardstock and inks as well as the Rose Red Wide Stitched Ribbon and Sincere Salutations for the sentiment.

One of the Best Things About being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator...

One of the best parts of being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator is all of the friends you meet because of stamping...both my customers and my fellow Demonstrators. I'm part of a great group of Demonstrators who meet every month and I look forward to those meetings every time - we have lots of fun together and stamp some great projects!

This month's meeting was no different and we had a shoebox of new stamp sets. A shoebox is where each of us prepares a card and brings all the materials for everyone to make them.

This was my card for the Shoebox - it uses the Sending Love DSP, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit for the Big Shot and the Well Scripted Stamp Set. The Embosslit is great because it makes a great mat for the Large Heart Punch, which I used to punch out the DSP and greeting hearts. I also used the new Pinking Hearts Border Punch. The colors I used are Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Real Red and Very Vanilla.
